RIO DE JANEIRO -- The mens Olympic golf tournament has seen its share of negativity with all of the high-profile withdrawals. But the tournament does boast six of the top 12 players in the world, including six major championship winners. The 60-man field stretches from No. 5 Henrik Stenson of Sweden to No. 405 Jose-Filipe Lima of Brazil. While Lima is not expected to contend for a medal, the idea of a low-ranked player rising up and making things interesting certainly exists in golf. Here is a look at some of the main contenders for the gold medal -- and a few possible countries that could be sleepers to earn a silver or bronze medal.1. Henrik Stenson. The Swede is the hottest player in the field, having won a European Tour event in Germany, The Open and then a sixth-place tie at the PGA Championship. Stenson is also stoked to win here, certainly an important factor.2. Sergio Garcia. The Spaniard has also expressed nothing but enthusiasm for the Olympics, and was here to participate in the Opening Ceremony. Although Garcia missed the cut at the PGA, he finished fifth at both the U.S. Open and The Open. It would only be fitting if Garcia, tormented in the majors, ended up winning the first Olympic gold since golf was last held at the Games in 1904.3. Martin Kaymer. The two-time major winner from Germany has been hovering around 50th in the world for most of what as been a so-so season. He tied for seventh at the PGA Championship but has not won since his 2014 U.S. Open victory. Kaymer, however, is another player keen on the Olympic competition.4. Patrick Reed. One of the four Americans in the field, Reed might be the most fired up to participate in the Olympics. Ranked 14th in the world, Reed is coming off a tie for 11th at the Travelers Championship, his fourth consecutive finish between 10th and 13th. Reed has not won in more than a year.5. Justin Rose. The Englishman continues to lurk around the top 10 in the world, a consistent contender but an infrequent winner. His last victory came in the fall at the Hong Kong Open, but his name is routinely on leaderboards, which makes him a threat anywhere. Rose has embraced the Olympics, was here early to see the course and seems poised to get a win.SLEEPERS1. Venezuela. Not a big golf-playing nation, but Jhonattan Vegas is a two-time PGA Tour winner who recently captured the Canadian Open. Few would be surprised to see him win here, let alone contend for a medal.2. Ireland. No Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland and Ireland compete as one nation in the Olympics). No Shane Lowry. No Graeme McDowell. No problem. Padraig Harrington still has the ability to get it done, and Seamus Power is an up-and-coming name in the game.3. Argentina. Not only is Emiliano Grillo a strong medal contender, but he could easily give Argentina its next major championship. Already a winner on the PGA Tour, he got into contention at the PGA. He also is a solid ball striker, a trait that will suit him well in windy Rio.4. India. Anirban Lahiri has already experienced plenty of international golf, playing a good bit this year in the United States and also competing last year on the International Presidents Cup team. His countryman SSP Chawrasia gets on the all-name team, but he could also surprise.5. Australia. Clearly the Aussies would not be on the outside looking in at a medal if Jason Day or Adam Scott or even Marc Leishman were here. But Scott Hend and Marcus Fraser are seasoned pros who have played around the world, including Europe and Asia -- although their success on the big stage is limited.Ben Zobrist Cubs Jersey . Andre Dawson Jersey . - The Oakland Raiders re-signed offensive lineman Khalif Barnes on Friday.England coach Eddie Jones believes Australia are the most improved side in the world but also accused the Wallabies of having an illegal scrum ahead of Saturdays Test at Twickenham.Jones declined to go into detail over his misgivings with the Australian scrum, but said he wants to meet referee Jaco Peyper early this week to tell him that they do things illegally.Wallabies coach Michael Cheika shrugged off Jones comments following their defeat in Ireland while Australian forward Dean Mumm said they would pay little attention to the noises emanating from the England camp as they look to Saturdays Test.England head into the match on a 13-match unbeaten run, one which included their 3-0 series triumph on Australian soil in June. Jones says that series victory counts for nothing ahead of this weekends match but has warned his players they will face a much-improved Australian side. What theyve done throughout the Rugby Championship and then come on tour here, is quite brilliant, their attacks become a lot more varied, their alignment is better in attack and defensively theyre making better decisions, Jones said.Key players have come back -- Will Genia at nine whho I know very well is an outstanding player and at his best he was the worlds best half-back.dddddddddddd Hes probably not quite there but hes playing some really good rugby and really adds a solid influencing role in their team.[Reece] Hodge has come in at 12, big strong lad with a big kick, hes added a bit more go-forward to their backline. Ive been real impressed with what theyve done. It makes next weeks game so exciting.Jones said there were a number of bruised bodies in the wake of their 27-14 win over Argentina and may change their training week to allow players to recover for what could be a historic match against the Wallabies. If England beat Australia then they will match the 14-match unbeaten run set by Sir Clive Woodwards 2003 vintage but Jones is paying little attention to records. The unbeaten record is a consequence of us playing well next week, so the only thing we can do next week is play well. So we dont need to talk about records, we dont need to think about them, all we need to think about is playing well. ' ' '
