(STATS) -- Talk surrounding the FCS playoffs this weekend will center around whos in and whos out of the 24-team field. When the seeded teams with first-round byes begin play in two weeks, the excitement figures to center around the biggest possible change to the field -- fresher matchups rather than the same ol, same ol.While the NCAA Division I FCS selection committee will make the pairings regional when possible, beginning this year, conferences with four or more competing teams will be split over both sides of the bracket. In each of the first three playoffs since they were expanded to 24 in 2013, there has been at least two conferences with four or more qualifiers. This year, the Big Sky, CAA Football, Missouri Valley and Southern conferences are all strong candidates to reach that number.Hopefully what it means, Brian Hutchinson, chair of the selection committee, said Wednesday, is that its more exciting to our fans that theyre not watching the same game theyve already seen before, at least something similar to what theyve seen before, that theyre going to see really good quality opponents, and playing in different places than theyve played. If thats what that means and it generates a little bit more excitement about the championship, then I think thats probably a very, very good thing. The change in policy occurred following conference unrest over last years field, which included all five qualifiers from the Missouri Valley Football Conference being placed in one half of the bracket through regionalization, which can minimize travel and expenses. The playoffs consist of 10 conference champions which receive automatic bids and 14 at-large selections. There are eight first-round games on Nov. 26, with the winners advancing to meet the seeded teams in the second round. The championship game will be held Jan. 7 in Frisco, Texas.Six of last years eight second-round games had been played during the regular season -- three were between teams from the same conference. That is less likely to happen this year.I do think its very possible that we have an opportunity for a little bit less regionalization this year than weve had in previous years, Hutchinson said. One, because of who the teams are that are vying for the championship and, two, because we have a little more flexibility in our bracketing principles to ensure that we avoid some common seasonal matchups. Its not something weve talked about specifically yet, but in sort of reading the tea leaves, I think thats where we are.The other big change for the committee has been the release of Top 10 rankings each of the last three weeks, intended to create interest in the playoffs and basically a preview to what teams could earn seeds.Hutchinson says the margin between the top six ranked teams has been razor-thin and is part of the reason that, as all six have continued to win games, Sam Houston State dropped from No. 2 to No. 5 in the second ranking, Jacksonville State dropped from No. 1 to No. 3 in the third and final ranking, and North Dakota State rose from No. 4 to No. 1 over the final two rankings. Its not that significant if you know how closely ranked they were in terms of just the way our point system works, Hutchinson said.Hutchinson, who is the Morehead State athletic director, said the biggest factors when evaluating a team for the field are overall record, results against Division I opponents, record against other conferences that have automatic qualifiers, head-to-head results against other potential qualifiers, common opponents records and the Simple Rating System, which quantifies the strength of a teams schedule.---=FCS CO-GAME OF THE WEEK=The Matchup: No. 9 North Carolina A&T (9-1, 7-0 MEAC) at No. 24 North Carolina Central (8-2, 7-0)Kickoff: 2 p.m. ET at OKelly-Riddick Stadium (10,000) in Durham, North CarolinaTelevision: ESPN2Series: North Carolina A&T leads 49-33-5 (last meeting: North Carolina Central won 21-16 in Greensboro on Nov. 21, 2015)The Skinny: Its winner-take-all -- the outright MEAC championship and Celebration Bowl bid. The losing team can be considered for an at-large bid to the FCS playoffs. N.C. A&T coach Rod Broadway was N.C. Centrals coach from 2003-06. The visiting Aggies have won all of their MEAC games by an average of nearly 24 points. All-American RB Tarik Cohen (1,769 all-purpose yards, 18 TDs) has gone over 100 rushing yards in each of his three games against the Eagles, gaining 203 yards and two TDs in a 2014 loss. N.C. Central QB Malcolm Bell, who has thrown for the most yards (2,007) and touchdowns (15) in the MEAC, will attack an Aggies defense that ranks last in pass defense. DEs Antiono Brown (7) and Henry-Ajudua (6.5) rank third and fourth, respectively, in the MEAC in sacks.Prediction: Hovering over the Aggies during a glorious three-year run are losses to N.C. Central to end the last two regular seasons. N.C. A&T, 28-21.---=FCS CO-GAME OF THE WEEK=The Matchup: No. 11 Central Arkansas (9-1, 8-0 Southland) at No. 1 Sam Houston State (10-0, 8-0)Kickoff: 3:30 p.m. ET at Bowers Stadium (12,975) in Huntsville, TexasTelevision: ESPN3Series: Tied 5-5 (last meeting: Sam Houston State won 42-13 in Conway, Arkansas, on Nov. 21, 2015)The Skinny: The Southland Conference championship and outright bid to the FCS playoffs are at stake. The loser is at risk of falling from a first-round bye. UCA, the nations best at defending the run, has limited opponents to 26 minutes of ball control and is the only FCS team to rank in the national top 10 in total defense (300.7 ypg) and scoring defense (16.8 ppg). Top WRs Jatavious Wilson and Tremon Smith (52 receptions each) also are threats on kickoff and punt returns, respectively. It took until last Saturdays 10th game of the season for Sam Houston to fall behind an opponent. The Bearkats have the No. 2 passing offense in the FCS and QB Jeremiah Briscoe has thrown for 45 TDs (three shy of the Southland single-season record), but their team runs the ball over 46 percent of the time, led by Remus Bulmer and Corey Avery (combined 1,430 yards and 15 TDs).Prediction: The Bearkats surely wont be playing with the usual early lead, so its time to answer the challenge. Brandon Morrow allowed five runs on six hits over three innings. He struck out two, walked one and hit a batter. Edwin Encarnacion had a two-out, bases loaded two-RBI double in the third inning. Cheap Vapormax Canada .Y. -- Injured Buffalo Sabres forward Marcus Foligno did not practice with the team Monday and head coach Ron Rolston said its unlikely hell play in Wednesdays season opener in Detroit. Cheap Nike Vapormax . There are surprises among the Vezina candidates, but most of the others are standard top-tier performers, even if the two Hart Trophy runners-ups have never been quite as good as they have been through the first half of the season. Poof! There goes everything you thought you knew about the College Football Playoff picture after No. 2 Clemson, No. 3 Michigan and No. 4 Washington all fell in Week 11 to join the one-loss club.Heres the crazy part: All three of them still control their own destiny in their conference races and will win their respective leagues if they win out. So, in spite of all of that chaos, its quite possible theres not a lot of movement in the selection committees top six this week. Its time to press the reset button.Heres a fresh look at the playoff picture in each Power 5 conference:ACCClemson: The Tigers will still clinch the Atlantic Division with a win at Wake Forest next week but cant afford another loss and have to beat rival South Carolina in the regular-season finale. If the committee is consistent with its reasoning from last week, the Tigers shouldnt drop below Louisville this week because of their head-to-head win over the Cardinals. Last week, Texas A&M didnt drop below Auburn specifically because of the Aggies head-to-head win.Louisville: The Cardinals were arguably the team that was helped the most, because at the very least, they will now be compared to more one-loss teams instead of undefeated teams. But Louisville still needs help. It cant win its conference championship unless Clemson loses to Wake Forest since the Cardinals were beaten head-to-head by Clemson. Plus, the Cardinals were trailing the Buckeyes in each of the committees first two rankings. With some more chaos, though, Louisville can still cling to the hope of having two ACC teams in the top four.BIG 12Oklahoma: The No. 11 Sooners are still undefeated in conference play but have been weighed down by nonconference losses to Ohio State and Houston. A bigger problem is the gap between them and No. 7 Wisconsin, which is currently the committees highest-ranked two-loss team.West Virginia: Dont count out a one-loss Big 12 champ, but the Mountaineers have a strength-of-schedule problem. When asked about WVU last week, selection committee chair Kirby Hocutt said, At this point in the season, theyve only played one game against a ranked College Football Playoff opponent, and that was to Oklahoma State, whos ranked No. 13 in this weeks rankings, and West Virginia lost that game. West Virginia just needs to continue to win and build their résumé in the eyes of the committee.BIG TENMichigan: If Michigan wins out, it will win the Big Ten East because the Wolverines own the head-to-head tiebreaker over Penn State. Michigan plays Indiana at home before the much-anticipated Nov. 26 gamme at Ohio State.ddddddddddddPenn State: Penn State has to win out and have Michigan lose again. If Penn State wins out, Ohio State cannot win the East division. If Penn State wins the division, the Big Ten is guaranteed to have a two-loss conference champion, as Wisconsin is the leader in the West, and its possible the league champ could be left out of the playoff entirely.Ohio State: The Buckeyes need Penn State to lose again, an unlikely scenario considering the Nittany Lions final two opponents are Michigan State and Rutgers. There is the possibility, though, that with more chaos, Ohio State sneaks into the top four without playing in the conference championship game as long as it wins out (which would include a victory over Michigan).Wisconsin: The Badgers have made the case as the nations best two-loss team with a chance at the playoff because they are currently ranked ahead of Oklahoma and will have another shot at a ranked opponent in the Big Ten title game, assuming they win the West.PAC-12Washington: If the Huskies win out, they will win the North and play in the Pac-12 championship game with a chance to keep their playoff hopes alive, but this is where their strength of schedule could be a serious dagger. Washingtons nonconference schedule ranks No. 128 according to ESPNs Football Power Index, with wins against Rutgers, Idaho and Portland State. Thats Baylor-esque, but the Huskies can still beat two more ranked opponents if they top Washington State in the Apple Cup, and then the South winner (probably Colorado or Utah) in the conference championship game.Colorado: Dont discount a two-loss Colorado if it beats three straight ranked opponents and wins the Pac-12 title, considering its two losses have been to ranked opponents Michigan and USC. The Buffs finish the season against ranked teams Washington State and Utah, and could upend a top-10 Washington team in the Pac-12 championship game. Utah could still win the Pac-12 South, but it has yet to beat a ranked opponent, and the trip to Colorado is the only opportunity remaining in the regular season against a ranked team.SECAlabama: The Tide clinched the SEC West and are now the only undefeated Power 5 team remaining. Even with a loss to Auburn in the Iron Bowl, Alabama will still play in the SEC championship game and is the leagues lone legitimate contender. Auburn was eliminated from the SEC race and the playoff conversation with its loss to Georgia. ' ' '
